The Makers

The Makers is the lightweight sibling of The Rivals. Same platform, same origins, deliberately less of everything, because the audience it was built for will not sit through a three-hour simulation to reach the interesting part.

The Makers - Cutting is the work

01

Cutting is the work

Making a simulation smaller without making it trivial is harder than adding detail. Every mechanic removed was load-bearing for a decision someone used to make.

The Makers - The first five minutes

02

The first five minutes

Someone who has never played a business sim should reach their first real decision with no tutorial and nobody leaning over their shoulder. That drove the visual design more than taste did.

03

Runs on what's in the room

Thirty people opening it at once on whatever laptops are there. Streamlined web technology, fast to load, modest to run.

04

When smaller wins

A three-hour simulation is right for an executive programme and wrong for a classroom with forty minutes. Choosing which of the three fits the room is part of the work.
